The Game of Thrones Fantasy League – 7.01 – Dragonstone

Game of Thrones – 7.01 – Dragonstone

Welcome back! And Welcome to this year’s new players!

Touch the ground with gravitas: you are finally home.
Home at The Game of Thrones Fantasy League – Season 7.

It’s great to be back in the unpredictable world of Westeros where anything might be round the corner, from wight giants to bed pans to Ed Sheeran. I’m excited to see that the Narrow Sea is no longer a part of the opening credits and we are pulling this sprawling story back to a tighter show.

A massive onslaught of points for this episode, with only one unfortunate player not getting double figures. Part of this can be chalked up to seven of the players getting bonus points for handing their teams in before the first trailer aired, but this was a points heavy episode in general, one I hope sets the standard for the season. No one had any points taken away from them for this episode. Let’s hope things stay that way.

Possible points of contention

While the map in the Red Keep doesn’t feature any armies on it, the Lannister twins survey the map in terms of Westeros’ armies, gaining them both points.

I’m giving Arya false name points as she is masquerading as Walder Frey.

Sansa does not gain inspirational speech points for calling Jon out, despite the few cheers her announcement receives from people at Winterfell, as I don’t feel her dialogue counts fairly as being a speech.

Sandor gets communicates with deity points twice, first for receiving a vision in the flames from R’hllor and second for the brief prayer he attempts at the Seven Gods when burying the skeletons. As the vision in the flames doesn’t appear on screen, he does not get vision points.

Euron’s hair is so different from when last we saw him, he gains haircut points, despite the cutting not being witnessed in show.

Bran and Meera don’t receive points for crossing the Wall as they’re currently at the Wall and we have yet to see them come out the other side. They will inevitably receive points for this the next time we see them.

As Jorah is now in Westeros, he gets points for crossing the Narrow Sea.

The Leaderboard

Players can see their scores by consulting their initials in the table below. Congratulations to ST for flying away with the points for this episode!

Check back next week for “7.02 – Stormborn”, an episode that I think will make quite a few of the players pleased they picked Daenerys!
